And not a moment too soon because it's getting cold in Seattle, and is especially cold when you don't have a ceiling or insulation. Thankfully, the sheet rock guys came on Friday and we now have walls AND ceilings in every room in the house. For most of you, this isn't a big deal. For us, however, it has made all the difference. The upstairs is now just as warm as the basement and I can't look into the ceiling in the kitchen to determine if someone has left the light on in the bathroom.
However, one interesting note is that a mystery electrical box has appeared. It wasn't on the plans and we had no clue what it could be. I left a note for the lead carpenter and he said, "Well it's for your heated floors in the bathroom." Hmph. We didn't WANT heated floors. In fact, they asked us at least 5 times if we wanted heated floors and we thought, "Hm, $1500 to heat the 3 tiles in our 1.5 square foot bathroom? I don't think so." However IF the electrician has already wired for floors, will we get them for free? Stay tuned to find out.
