Priming and Painting

Finally, it came time for us to prime the mess the sheet rock dudes made and put on one coat of paint before the floors, tile, and cabinets are brought in. I'm not even going to go into detail about why the sheet rock dudes are complete and total morons, but let's just say we spent an enjoyable hour on the front porch on Thursday because they locked the doorknobs on our front and back doors. We don't have and never have had key to the doorknobs. I guess the previous owners didn't think we needed them and so when we did the walk-through with the carpenter, we made sure that everyone knew that the doorknobs were not to be locked. Well the dofus workers locked the back door and then walked through the non-construction "sanctuary" and decided to lock the front door as well. Needless to say, Conner Remodel payed for the locksmith to fix that "mistake."

So this weekend was all about paint. We had to prime the kitchen and bathroom and then apply one coat of paint to each room. It actually went quite well, but we're still debating whether the bathroom is "cool and bright" or "clownish and neon." The kitchen, cargo pants, is about a shade darker than the color we had in there previously -- hemp. It's going to look great with the greenish slate we have on the breakfast nook. Melange green, our bright and cheery bathroom green, might be a bit might. It's growing on me, though, and I think that once we get the cabinets, mirror, and tile in the room, it'll be ok. I hope.
